„Constructing Worlds“ is a lecture series in Winter semester 2026/27 offered by the Department of Building Construction as a one-off course.
The lecture series is about contemporary architecture that focuses on sustainable construction, carried out by offices or teams based in and around Vienna. The intention is to get an overview and allow insight into current practices in building construction from the perspective of architects that are primarily active in implementation and building. The lecturers are selected based on their portfolio of implemented projects, quality, and approach to construction and circularity. It is expected that 6-8 guest lectures will be held in the course of the semester. The list of lecturers will be announced closer to the start of the semester.
The lecture series is intended as an opportunity for exchange between teaching and practice: it aims to provide insights into current working methods, open up new perspectives, and promote dialogue on sustainable and future-proof construction methods.
The lectures are aimed at students of the university and are also open to the interested public.
Location: I oA Institute of Architecture. University of Applied Arts Vienna. Oskar-Kokoschka Platz 2 1010 Wien/Vienna
