Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)
Workshop: Ankara, 27 April – 1 May 2026

The Department of Building Construction invites students to apply for the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) Biomimetic Design with AI Tools, an interdisciplinary course hosted by TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Ankara, Turkey.

The programme is organized within the Erasmus+ KA131 framework in collaboration with:
University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte), Austria
West Pomeranian University of Technology, Germany
TU Eindhoven, Netherlands

Duration: February – May 2026
Structure: 10 online sessions (Zoom)
5-day on-site workshop in Ankara: 27 April – 1 May 2026
Mode: Blended (online + physical presence)

Students who successfully complete the course will receive a transcript for MIM 422 – Biomimetic Design with AI Tools (4 ECTS).*

Course Focus
The course explores biomimetic design strategies supported by AI-based tools, combining theoretical input with hands-on design and fabrication.

Key learning objectives
Understanding principles of biomimicry in design and architecture
Working in interdisciplinary and international teams
Integrating AI tools into the conceptual and design development process
Digital modeling and prototyping using Rhino, Grasshopper, and related tools
Producing and 3D-printing a functional biomimetic design

Application
Open to regular students of Angewandte enrolled in Summer Term 2026, with a preference to Architecture and Design students.
Good command of English is required.
5 places available for students of the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
Selection is based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additional enrollment in the course Biodesign (LV-Nr. S04800) is recommended but not mandatory.

Mobility Support
Selected students may apply for Erasmus+ mobility funding for the on-site workshop in Ankara through the International Office of the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
