Aneliya Lüftner
Doctoral Student BSc Dipl.Ing.

Aneliya Lüftner is an architect at Wiener Wohnen Kundenservice, where she focuses on the renovation and long-term stewardship of Vienna’s municipal housing buildings. She received her Dipl.-Ing. degree in Architecture from TU Vienna in 2015 and has been pursuing part-time doctoral research since 2025.
Her work investigates the future of Vienna’s municipal housing through the reuse of dismantled building components and the development of bio-based material systems. Drawing on mycelium, myxomycetes, mosses, and other naturally occurring agents, she explores how renovation-site byproducts can be transformed into environmentally responsive building materials. Her research further considers the ecological needs of species listed on Austria’s Red List, situating material innovation within broader questions of urban biodiversity and circular construction.
