The “London Housing” project focuses on the ongoing challenges of affordability, availability, and policy inefficiencies in the UK’s capital. The project investigates the factors contributing to the crisis, including rising property prices, gentrification, and inadequate housing policies, which have resulted in increased homelessness and housing insecurity for many residents.

Through data analysis, case studies, and policy evaluation, the research highlights the disparity between housing demand and supply, exacerbated by speculative real estate investment and government inaction. The study explores the impact of social housing shortages and high rental costs on marginalized communities, emphasizing the growing need for equitable housing solutions. Comparisons to international housing policies provide insight into alternative approaches that could alleviate London’s housing issues.

The project advocates for systemic reforms, such as increased investment in affordable housing, rent control policies, and stricter regulations on speculative property investments. By rethinking urban planning strategies and prioritizing social equity, the research presents potential pathways toward a more inclusive and sustainable housing landscape in London.
