Student Researcher positions for ROOTARCH

We’re looking for student researchers for an interdisciplinary exploration of plant root growth principles and their applications in architecture at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna! If you’re passionate about biodesign and digital innovation, apply to join our team at the Department of Building Construction.

• Start: 1.1.2025 (1 day (8h)/week for 6 months)
• Salary: Based on student assistant salary level at Angewandte.

Tasks:

• Support organization and administration of the project.
• Carry out basic research on plant roots in the biolab.
• Collaborate in translational research into architectural design proposals.
• Engage in 3D printing and prototyping.
• Collaborate in design workshops with students.
• Assist in documentation and publishing.

 

Qualifications:

• Interest and preferable knowledge in biodesign.
• Engagement, independent, and organised work mode.
• Excellent command of digital tools, 3D software, and programming.
• Experience in 3D printing and hands-on model making.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
