Angewandte Festival 2020
24th -26th June 2020
At the Festival at the end of June 2020, which due to Corona could only take place digitally, we showed some short videos about the work of our students. The videos give a quick impression of the construction studies that were carried out in the course Building Construction Integration and of the structures and details that were further developed from these preparatory works for the master thesis. Building Construction Integration aims to enable students to use the technical knowledge gained from research to improve the design and develop a construction that supports and enriches the architectural concept.
Here are the videos once again:
Klara Jörg from studio díazmoreno garcíagrinda tested various lightweight roof constructions, detailed one of the designs and further developed the construction for her master’s thesis.

New Guabuliga Market: [a]FA has been working on the design and implementation of a new market for Guabuliga, a village in northern Ghana. Based on research and field trips, the team designed a market structure that aims to attract traders and customers to Guabuliga and to strengthen the socio-economic performance of the village. Construction commenced in early 2019, and the market successfully opened in August 2019. (see: www.facebook.com/aFA.appliedforeignaffairs)
Our department assisted in the development of the construction. During our courses the students worked out the constructional details and were mainly accompanied by Franz Sam, who has been advising [a]FA for years.
